Sustainability at SPA®
For more than 130 years, sustainability has been a core value at SPA®. Everything begins with our exceptional natural environment, and we protect it with the same care as our water sources. This allows us to guarantee pure, natural mineral water for generations to come.
Protection of nature
Our sources lie in one of the largest protected natural areas in Europe. Since 1889, they have been carefully monitored and shielded from any form of pollution. Thanks to this strict protection, the water quality remains consistently exceptional and naturally pure.
Water management for the future
Our sources are managed sustainably, with respect for the natural replenishment of the water. This ensures SPA® water remains available for future generations: pure, safe, and unchanged.
Our initiatives around sustainable water-cycle management are recognised beyond our borders. Since 2020, SPA Monopole has been certified Platinum by the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), the highest certification in this field. Did you know that we extract less than 5% of our available natural water resources (while the European threshold is 20%)?
Drawing without depleting, that is our instinct to protect.
B-Corp certified
The entire Spadel Group, of which SPA® is part of, is proudly B-Corp certified. This label is awarded to companies that place sustainability and social responsibility at the heart of every step in their value chain.
It also recognises companies that find a balance between profit and the greater good.
Towards a lighter footprint
At SPA®, we work every day to minimise our impact on the climate. Through targeted actions, we continuously reduce the carbon footprint of our products across their entire lifecycle. We do this by lowering CO₂ emissions in all our activities, from our headquarters to our production sites, located in the protected nature surrounding our sources.
We consciously choose short supply chains. By limiting our distribution zone to a radius of 500 km around our sources, we minimise transport emissions.
The emissions we cannot avoid today are compensated through sustainable and social projects. One example is our partnership with Water Access Rwanda, providing 250,000 people with access to safe drinking water.
But we want to go even further. Our ambition is clear: to be fully carbon-neutral by 2050, without compensation. A future in which our natural sources remain protected and the impact of our production is reduced to an absolute minimum.
